What we like

Reasons to like about M2 Mac mini.

First Mac mini with pro-level performance

The new 2023 Mac mini is available with an M2 Pro chip option that brings more I/O ports, more and faster-unified memory, and supports up to three displays.

What we don't like

Reasons not to like about M2 Mac mini.

Slow SSD on 256GB Config

Apple cut costs on an entry-level 256GB SSD option by placing only a single SSD chip instead of two like the previous M1 Mac mini.

Non-upgradable storage

M2 Mac mini has soldered storage, and there are no M.2 slots for expansion. Learn more

Non-upgradable memory

The memory on M2 Mac mini is soldered to the motherboard, and there is no additional RAM slot for expansion. Since you can't change or add more RAM after you buy, you want to make sure you pick the configuration with the right amount of memory at the initial purchase. Learn more

What's missing

Downsides over its predecessor.

Non-Pro M2 chips are still limited to two displays.

To have a Mac mini with three monitors set up, you will need a model with an M2 Pro chip. The M2 chip supports only up to two displays output simultaneously, with one 5K@60Hz and one 4K@60Hz.
