Downsides over its predecessor.
Alienware M15 R2 supports a smaller memory capacity than the Alienware M15 R1. It only supports up to 16GB versus 32GB of system memory on the Alienware M15 R1.
Alienware M15 R2 has onboard memory that you can't replace or upgrade when needed. On the flip side, you can upgrade RAM on the Alienware M15 R1 since it has two SODIMM slots.
