Power Mode is an essential feature for all kinds of mobile computing with batteries inside. It allows users to easily switch between a better battery life mode or the best performance mode for their computing devices.

In Windows 11, the feature has moved from the battery slider to stay inside the Settings app. If you have a hard time locating the power mode settings, here we have a step-by-step guide for you.

Change Power Mode on Windows 11

To change power mode on Windows 11:

  1. Open Windows Settings
    First, Go to Start and open the Settings app from the Start Menu (or by using Win + I short key).

  2. Go to “System” and “Power & battery”

  3. From here, click the drop-down menu next to the Power mode setting, and choose a power mode as your desired.

Change Traditional Power Options on Windows 11

If you want to manage power options for your Windows 11 PC in an old way, you can still do that by using these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel by using the following methods:
    1. Open the Start menu, type control, and select the Control Panel app from the list.

    2. Alternatively, you can press Win + R, type control, and press the Enter key.

  2. Select Hardware and Sound from the settings.

  3. Select Power Options.

  4. To change the power plans, click on the link Change settings that are currently unavailable.

  5. You can now select your preferred power plan for your device.

Note There are three power plans you can choose by default. That includes power saver, balanced, and high performance. However, on some PCs and laptops, you might see different options depending on their OEM configuration.
Note When you select a plan other than the Balanced one, you will no longer be able to change the power mode from the Settings app, as we mentioned above.  You can fix this by changing the power options back to Balanced.
