Dell XPS 15 9510 vs. MacBook Pro 14” (2021)

Dell has released the XPS 15 9510, a 15.6-inch machine, in mid-2021. It is powered by up to a octa-core Intel Core i9-11900H with a boost clock speed up to 4.90 GHz. The laptop has a dedicated GPU option up to Nvidia Quadro RTX 3050Ti with 4GB GDDR6 45W TGP.

On the other hand, we have the 14.2-inch MacBook Pro 14” was introduced by Apple around the same year in late-2021. It comes with up to a 10-core Apple M1 Max (10C, 32G). It has an integrated graphics option up to Apple M1 Max iGPU (32 GPU Cores, 16 Neural Engine Cores).

The Dell XPS 15 9510 has a 15.6-inch display which is slightly larger than the 14.2-inch MacBook Pro 14” (2021). In addition, the Dell XPS 15 9510 weighs 4.22 lbs. about 20% heavier than the 3.5 lbs. MacBook Pro 14” (2021). Moreover, measured at 13.57” x 9.06” x 0.71”, the Dell XPS 15 9510 is much bulkier than the MacBook Pro 14” (2021) at 12.31” x 8.71” x 0.61”.

Moving over to upgradability, Dell claims that the Dell XPS 15 9510 supports up to 64GB 3200 MHz DDR4 memory that you can upgrade with two memory module slots on the motherboard. It also comes with two M.2 slots that users can easily upgrade and install an additional SSD to expand the storage on the device.

For MacBook Pro 14” (2021), it supports up to 64GB Unified memory. Unlike Dell XPS 15 9510, it has an onboard memory module that is not upgradable by the users.
